Rusk County, Texas — A crash early Sunday morning on US 79 in Rusk County has left two dead.

According to report, the crash happened at the intersection of US 79 and County Road 4255 at 7:43 am.

The investigators’ preliminary report states that a 2015 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on US 79 when the driver drove onto the wrong side of the freeway and collided head-on with a 2020 Toyota Tacoma.

The driver of the Ford, Benjamin Cole Montrose, 20, of Larue, died at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, Dakota Chase Pardue, 25, of Henderson, also died at the scene. Both drivers were taken to the Crawford A Crimm Funeral Home in Henderson.

The investigation is ongoing.
