Martin County 3-Vehicle Crash Kills One

Martin County, Texas (01/22/21) – A deadly 3-vehicle crash caused major traffic and slowdowns on both sides Friday evening.

DPS says just before 2:00 PM, a passenger vehicle was traveling northbound on SH 349 next to a tractor-trailer when a Buick Lacrosse, traveling southbound, crossed over and collided the passenger vehicle into the tractor-trailer.

The driver of the Buick Lacrosse, Casey R. Ketchersid, 31, of Lamesa, attempted to evade a vehicle making a left turn before crossing over into the northbound lane.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, Toni L. Place, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Ketchersid was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries have been reported and the accident is still being investigated by DPS.
