Two Dead in Deadly Dallam County Car Crash

AMARILLO, TX (Oct 4, 2022) – Tuesday night, two members of the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department were killed in a crash that occurred on US 54.

At approximately 8:40 p.m., troopers responded to a head-on collision involving a Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department vehicle and a truck tractor towing a semi-trailer. The driver of the truck tractor attempted to pass an unknown vehicle and struck the Chevrolet that was traveling southwest head-on, according to a release by the Texas DPS.

Two victims, Firefighter Brendan Torres, 19, and Fire Chief Curtis Brown, 51, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck tractor was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
