What is a Third-Party Accident Claim?

One of the questions we often get is about third-party accident claims. These can arise in an oil field or construction site situation where multiple parties and multiple companies are working together at the same location. A worker who’s employed by one company will get hurt, and it’s often the fault of the employees of different companies. And so in Texas, especially if workers compensation is involved, that protects the employer from having a claim made against them. But there is still the potential for making a claim against what lawyers would call third parties, in other words a company that does not actually employ the injured individual. This happens in oil field accidents quite often.
