Well Blow Out in Texas Causes Serious Injuries

One Dead, Three Injured in Well Blow

Deanville, TX (1/29/2020) – One contractor died and three others were flown by helicopter to nearby hospitals after an oil well burst in Burleson County on Wednesday around 3:30 pm. 

Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy operates the well.

The fire and blow out happened at the Wendl and Daniel H 1 H well. The worksite is on County Road 172 southwest of Caldwell. According to Burleson County, authorities work to cap the well began on the morning of Thursday, January 30th. 

Late Wednesday, first responders remained on the scene along with an oilfield response specialist team to assess the damage and monitor the fire.

Representatives from Chesapeake Energy are also on the scene looking for the cause of the blast. In addition, The American Red Cross is on the scene offering aid.

The Texas Department of Public Safety released a statement that evacuations for the area were not called for by that they closed County Road 172 for a short time.

The names of the victims are not being released at this time.
